Waffles, Donuts and Pizza

It’s my birthday, and I am turning 35.

My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I said that I wanted to get a manicure, have a foot rub from him, and have some pizza from a place we both love. That is all I wanted.

This morning, my husband woke up with the kids so I could shower and get ready. He made waffles, got the kids ready, and did the dishes. I could actually fully get ready for the day and show up to preschool drop-off not in my gym clothes and without makeup.

There was a card that he wrote with some things my kids said about me. My son said he liked making train tracks with me, and he liked it when I got his water bottle for him. He told my husband to write, “I love Mom,” in the card. My daughter said, “keys” and “Where did Mommy go?” It was perfect because my daughter is obsessed with keys right now, and she also asks, “Where’d it go?”

When I was at Costco, he texted me not to buy myself a treat since he had already done that. When I came home, he had bought me donuts from my favorite donut place. It was perfect.

My sister-in-law wished me a happy birthday and wished for me to have an uninterrupted nap during my daughter’s nap time. My son did pretty well with it, and I got a quality nap.

Now I am writing while my daughter is napping, and I am just enjoying some time to write and reflect. My son is watching Bluey, specifically the granny episode, since he loves to watch that one on repeat.

Later on, we will meet up with a preschool friend at a park, and I am very much looking forward to getting pizza for dinner.

This is what I want for my birthday at 35.
